Senate orders Dalong, NFF to pay Falcons



The Senate on Wednesday asked for the prompt payment of Nigerian female football team, the Super Falcons, of all salaries and allowances due to them.
The lawmakers lamented the trend of maltreatment of Nigerian athletes going for international competitions.

The Super Falcons players had won the African Women Cup of Nations for the record eighth time in Cameroon on Saturday.

Buhari orders probe of death of NYSC member



President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday ordered independent investigation of the death of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Miss Ifedolapo Oladepo in Kano State.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President’s fresh probe is to unravel the true circumstances surrounding her death.

Nigerian troops enter the heart of Sambisa forest



The troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have entered the heart of Sambisa forest from different fronts while recording huge successes clearing out the last frontier of Boko Haram terrorists hideouts.
During several operations include Operation Rescue Finale which is the continuation of Operation Crackdown aimed at rescuing all the Chibok School Girls and other hostages held deep inside Sambisa Forest, troops have rescued a total of 801 hostages, between November 23 to 
December 5, 2016. However, it is still unclear if there are any Chibok girls among them.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has berated Governor Ayodele Fayose for wearing military camouflage to the House of Assembly on Tuesday to present his 2017 budget proposal. The party said such attitude represents conduct unbecoming of his high position in a constitutional democracy. 
The party also frowned at the governor’s contempt for separation of powers as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, noting that arrogating the powers of the parliament to himself is a brazen trampling on the law, urging the National Assembly to save Nigerian Constitution from the governor’s executive lawlessness and recklessness.

Use tithes to buy arms for Christians - Femi Fani-Kayode backs CAN



Former Aviation Minister, Spokesperson to ex- President Goodluck Jonathan’s presidential campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has backed the call by Sam Omatseye, Chairman, Editorial Board, The Nation that Christens Association of Nigeria (CAN) should use tithes to buy arms for Christians for self-defence.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has said in November that 102 Christians were killed, over 50,000 houses burnt while another 215 were injured since May 2016 by suspected Fulani herdsmen in 25 villages in Kaduna state.

According to reports she'd said, “If I had not played for Nigeria at full international level, trust me I would have played somewhere else.

Speaking on a ChannelsTV program on Wednesday, she denied the reports, saying Nigeria made her what she is today and there is no way she would consider dumping her fatherland for any place in the world.
She said having enjoyed when things were better, there was no way she would turn her back on the country now.

Onome Ebi has undergone a successful right arm surgery, following the injury she sustained during the 2016 African Women’s Cup of Nations.
The FC Minsk defender, was taken to the National Hospital in Abuja, after she arrived in the country following the Super Falcons’ 1-0 win over Cameroon on Saturday.

“Thank you Lord God for safe surgery, receive all thy glory in Jesus name amen,” Ebi wrote on her Instagram.
Although no timescale has been put on the 33-year-old’s recovery, she looks set to miss the first quarter of 2017.

NCAA gives Arik Air 24-hour ultimatum over delayed baggage



The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority on Wednesday directed Arik Air to return all delayed baggage of its passengers from London to Lagos within the next 24 hours.
The directive was issued by the Director, Consumer Complaints Department, NCAA, Mr. Adamu Abdullahi, who also directed the airline to compensate the affected passengers with $150 each for their troubles.

Army releases fresh list of wanted Boko Haram suspects



Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Monday in Maiduguri unveiled the poster carrying photographs of 55 most wanted Boko Haram members, including their supposed leader, Abubakar Shekau.
The poster, with the inscription, written in English, Hausa and Kanuri languages, is the third edition of such posters, it has telephone numbers which the public could easily call or send text messages to, to indicate which of the characters they know or have information on.
