Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has shown his support for Antonio Valencia.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday night’s friendly with San
Jose Earthquakes at the Avaya Stadium, Van Gaal stated that newly signed
right-back Darmian,
was a back up to Valencia.
“We have
brought Darmian for the second position behind Valencia and now already because
of that injury (Paddy) McNair has to play there,” Van Gaal said.
The Dutchman also stated the club could be purchasing
a striker very soon.
“It’s not the striker that the
media has written,” Van Gaal revealed.
“But you have to wait and see. The transfer period is
open until August 31 or September 2.”
