The Chief Security Officer during
the Goodluck
Jonathan administration, Mr. Gordon Obua, has reportedly
died while being held by the Department of State Security.
According to The Trent Online,
Obua had been in custody since Thursday 16th of July on the orders of President Muhammadu
Buhari.
The DSS’ Director-General, Lawal Musa, allegedly denied
him access to his lawyers, family and doctors as he was held in an underground
dungeon.
No charges were filed against
Obua, whose remains are reportedly still with the DSS.
Obua’s lawyer, Onochie Onwuegbuna, has
previously issued a statement on behalf of his family, claiming his client was
being witch-hunted and that he was denied his drugs for diabetes and
hypertension.
“Our Client is hypertensive and
diabetic to the knowledge of his employers the SSS. and as a result he has been
on daily medications to manage these very severe ailments and since his
detention, he has completely been denied access to these medications,” the
statement had said.
“Our Client has also been denied
access to members of his family, his doctor and his lawyers and
even more worrisome is the information obtained by his family that he has not
eaten or drank water ever since he was detained.”
