Belgium midfielder Kevin de
Bruyne has been named the Player of the Year in Germany, beating Manuel Neuer
and Arjen Robben by a massive margin.
The Belgium international was instrumental for
Wolfsburg in the 2014-15 season guiding them to second place and DFB Pokal
glory, as they beat Dortmund in the final.
The former Chelsea player has been linked with a move
back to England, with Man. City interested in him.
De Bruyne netted 10 league goals for Wolfsburg, but
topped the assists chart with 20 to his name and created more chances than any
player in the league.
There was no contest for Kicker’s Player of the Year
award, which is voted for by journalists all over the country, as De Bruyne
received 367 votes, while Robben clocked 94 and Neuer picked up 67.
“To be voted best player in a country abroad means a
lot,” De Bruyne told Kicker after hearing the news. “This is the reward for my
season.”
