The premier league wasn’t it for
defender Filipe Luis and now Atletico Madrid have confirmed the return of the
fullback to the La Liga just a year after leaving for Chelsea.
The 29-year-old made just 26 appearances for Chelsea
in all competitions, winning the EPL and League Cup, but failed to replace
Cesar Azpilicueta in the fullback role and has now signed a four-year-deal with
his former side.
“Chelsea Football Club has today agreed terms with
Atletico Madrid for the permanent transfer of Filipe Luis,” read a statement on
the club’s website. “We wish him all the best in the future.”
It is reported that Atleti paid £11.1 million for a
player they sold for £15 million to Chelsea, with Simeone still a fan of the
defender.
