Arsenal “parked the bus” for the entire second half as a 24th minute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain strike was enough to seal a second straight community shield for Arsenal.
Following what was a
tentative opening 10 minutes, both teams settled into a pattern and in the 24th minute, Arsenal broke forth and Ozil
found Chamberlain in space inside the Chelsea box and the Englishman turned
inside Azpilicueta before curling the ball into the corner to give Arsenal the
lead. In the second half, Arsenal showed the world that whatever Mourinho can
do, they can do as Arsenal spent most of the half camped inside their box.
Chelsea dominated possession but failed to create any clear cut chances.
Towards the end, Arsenal had two glorious chances to extend their lead but
Courtois was alert to thwart both Cazorla in the 88th minute
and Gibbs in the 93rd minute.
Arsenal have now won the FA cup
and Community shield back to back and Wenger would now have his sights set on
the Premier league.
