As expected, the opening gala
night of MTN project dame west Africa season 8 was tough and interesting for
the ‘Top 18’ contestants who scaled through the semi-final audition. The ‘Top
18′ contestants were finally streamlined to fourteen, who made it in to the
academy.
In similar fashion with previous editions, immense
excitement and emotions were let loose by the final 14 contestants as joy and
fulfilment could be seen written all over their faces as they made their way
into the academy. The final 14 contestants were full of joy as they described
how aesthetically pleasant and beautiful their new home was.
As is the tradition with MTN project dame west Africa,
the project fame academy would not only polish the singing skills of the
contestants but also provide them with essential life skills which may be the
reason why the contestants had little time to settle in as they went straight
to selecting the leader of the house.
To elect the first captain of the house, they all
nominated their choices for the position in an atmosphere devoid of rancour. At
the end of voting, Ada emerged as the first captain of the season 8 edition of
project fame west Africa after some rounds of game that had to be employed to
break the tie between her votes and that of Biko.
Before the activities of the day came to an end, Uncle
Ben came in to the house to officially welcome the contestants into the
competition. In his usual fashion from previous editions, he reeled out the
songs each of the contestants would be performing for the weekend.
