McAfee joins US presidential race
The maker of popular anti-virus software, John
McAfee has joined the ever-growing list of people
campaigning for the US presidency in 2016.
Yet to officially announce his
bid, McAfee reportedly filed the paperwork to contest with the Federal
Electoral Commission on Tuesday.
The millionaire has however opened his campaign site, mcafee16.com, and promised to make an
official announcement on Wednesday.
In an interview with Wired,
McAfee had said he wasn’t quite sure if he was running, but that a change in
leadership was needed.
“It’s clear that the leadership of our country is illiterate on
the fundamental technology that supports everything in life for us now, that is
cyber science, our smartphones, our military hardware, our communications,”
McAfee said in the interview.
The tech mogul is reportedly not going to be with either the
Democratic or Republican parties, but as a third-party candidate.
