Saraki pleads not guilty to tribunal
Senate
President Bukola Saraki has made his appearance at the Code
of Conduct Tribunal, where he is facing charges.
Saraki
pleaded not guilty to the 13-count charge of false declaration of assets and
corruption.
Saraki’s
lawyer, JB Daudu, had initially tried to prevent Saraki
from taking the stand, claiming the tribunal wasn’t meant for criminal charges.
The
tribunal’s chairman, Danladi Umar however ignored Daudu’s request,
and insisted Saraki enter the dock and take his plea.
