Chief Olu Falae kidnapped
One
time secretary-general of the federation, Chief Olu Falae, was abducted yesterday by Fulani
herdsmen.
Over
20 of the herdsmen attacked the Afenifere chieftain’s farm in Ilado
village, Akure north area of Ondo, injuring his staff with machetes before
kidnapping Falae, who turned 77 yesterday.
The
farm workers were said to have had previous issues with the herdsmen, over
their cattle grazing on and destroying the farm land.
They
reportedly fired shots in the air to scare the workers away, before beating
Falae and dragging him to take him with them.
The
police however believe that the herdsmen were working for someone else, as a
ransom has been demanded.
According
to the the spokesman of the Social Democratic Party in the state, Remi Olayiwola,
Falae’s wife, Mrs Rachael Falae has been contacted, and a
N100 million ransom demanded.
