Frank
Lampard got his first goal for New York FC today after being with the club for
over a year. Frank Lampard joined the club at the start of last season but
moved to Manchester City on loan and decided to extend his loan until the end
of last season meaning he only joined New York City FC fully in June
In the clash against Toronto FC,
Lampard was making only his fifth appearance for the club and it took only 20
minutes of that match for the Chelsea legend to show the entire New York what
he is all about as Andrea Pirlo played Allen through on the right before the
full back cut the ball back to Lampard on the edge of the area. The 37 year old
did not make the kind of contact we normally associate with him but he got
enough on the ball to see a bouncing shot evade the grasp of the Toronto
goalkeeper and give NYCFC the lead. Patrick Mullens got the second goal for New
York City as they went on to claim a 2-0 win in the game.
Andrea Pirlo also turned in a
phenomenal performance in the match and notched the assist for the second game.
Teammates and pundits alike were full of praise for both Lampard and Pirlo
following impressive displays by both players.
