It was all about Cristiano
Ronaldo as Real Madrid thrashed Espanyol 6-0 as the three time Ballon D’ Or
winner became Real Madrid’s all time highest goal scorer in the la liga as he
banged in 5 of Real Madrid’s six un-replied goals against Espanyol
It took only 7 minutes for Ronaldo to get the ball
rolling and end a barren spell as he ran onto a lofted pass by Modric before
rolling the ball into the corner of the net to make it 1-0. 10 minutes later,
Ronaldo made it 2 for himself and Real Madrid from the spot after Vazques had
brought down Bale in the box. Ronaldo completed his hat trick in the 20th minute as Bale’s cross came to him at
a good height and he volleyed the ball into the net to make it 3-0. The third
goal meant that Ronaldo had equaled Raul’s record of 288 la liga goals for Real
Madrid. The Portuguese then put his name on the assist books as he fired the
ball across the face of goal for Benzema to fire home and make it 4-0. Then the
moment came in the 61st minute when Bale’s ball into the box
was stabbed in by Ronaldo as he overtook Raul to become Real Madrid’s highest
goal scorer in La liga with 229 goals. 20 minutes later, Ronaldo made it 230 la
liga goals for Real Madrid, firing the ball past the Espanyol goalkeeper after
some good work by Lucas Vazquez.
It was double delight for Ronaldo who broke the Real
Madrid record while at the same time ending a personal goal drought. Well done,
CR7
