Super Eagles to face Congo and Cameroon
The
Super Eagles will face Congo and Cameroon as part of their preparations for the
2018 World Cup qualifiers.
The
team will face Congo first on the 8th of October, then play Cameroon 3 days
later, with both matches being played in Belgium.
The
Super Eagles will face either Djibouti or Swaziland in the next round of the
qualifiers, and coachSunday Oliseh believes the friendlies will
put the team in good stead.
“The
coach believes these two matches will give him an opportunity to access his
squad and put them in shape ahead of the World Cup qualifiers,” NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire told
BBC Sport.
“With
the matches being played in Europe on Fifa official dates against strong
opposition, it will enable Mr Oliseh to test his team thoroughly.
“The
majority of the players are playing in Europe, making it easier for them to
travel to Belgium for these matches.”
The
team also face Egypt in the African Nations Cup qualifiers, and the NFF is also
planning a match to prepare the team.
“We
are working on a friendly against Tunisia or Algeria before the game against
Egypt,” said NFF president Amaju Pinnick.
