Liverpool
cancels ticket price hike – Fenway Sports Group, owners of Liverpool FC, have
apologized to the fans following their attempt at increasing ticket prices.
The club had announced a new
ticket pricing for the 2016-17 season, with ticket prices rising as high
as £77 in the new scheme.
Many Liverpool fans had protested the move, with supporters
walking out of the club’s match with Sunderland in the 77th minute.
In the statement, Principal Owner John W
Henry, Chairman Tom Werner and
President Mike Gordon apologized
to the supporters, and announced that ticket prices would remain the same till
the 2018-19 season.
As an apology, the club announced a number of new changes to the
club’s ticketing structure, including the removing of game day categorization,
meaning that fans would pay the same for all match day tickets, regardless of
the opposition.
The club also announced that no ticket prices would be increased
till the start of the 2018 season, with some even being reduced. You can read
