Legend Eddie Murphy, receives nomination for the best supporting
actor at the 2017 Oscars.
Murphy’s new nomination comes with
his latest character as Mr Henry Joseph Church in
the movie,Mr Church. (Watch Trailer Below).
The Hollywood Reporter said the
awards will consider the actor in the best supporting actor category, rather
than for best actor due to his performance in the movie.
The comedian’s last screen flick
was A Thousand Words released four years ago in 2012.
This is Eddie’s first Oscars
nomination since his last award as the Best Supporting Actor in
2007 at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for his role in Dreamgirls.
Popularly
known as ‘Prince Akeem’ in Coming to America (1988), Murphy receives rave
reviews for new movie, Mr Church.
In Mr Church, Murphy
plays the title character of a black man (Henry Joseph Church) raising and
caring for a white girl, Charlie in the 70’s, after her mother fell ill with
cancer as the family’s cook.
Britt
Robertson plays the character of Charlie,
and also serves as the movie’s narrator. Robertson starred as Kirsten in
the 2013 movie, Delivery Man alongside Vince Vaughn and Chris Pratt.
Eddie Murphy gives an unusually
subdued performance, no funny lines to hide behind.
A private screening of Mr Church held in Los Angeles on September 6,
2016. Mr Church will premiere worldwide on September
16 2016.
