Wayne Rooney has become England’s most-capped outfield
player, after new boss, Sam Allardyce, started him in their 2018 World Cup
qualifier against Slovakia on Sunday.
Adam Lallana scored a late winner, as Big Sam began his reign with a win.
Rooney has now won his 116th cap for the Three Lions, breaking the record set by David Beckham.
Last week, Allardyce confirmed that the 30-year-old striker will remain England’s captain. However, Rooney has since revealed he will quit international football after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
