Kim Kardashian got
robbed in Paris and it looks like she’s not taking the fact that a gossip
site is saying that she lied about the traumatic incident lightly.
The reality star and mother of two is suing media
gossip site mediatakeout.com and its owner Fred
Mwangaguhunga for libel. The website put up three posts
claiming that she made up the robbery, let the robbers into her Paris
apartment, and could be committing a federal crime for her supposed deception.
Kim initially demanded that they retract the posts
and apologize, but her legal team didn’t get any reply, so now she’s suing.
“After
having been the victim of a horrific and traumatic armed robbery in
France, Kim Kardashian returned to the United States only to again be
victimized, but this time by an online gossip tabloid that published a
series of articles in early October 2016 referring to her a liar and
thief,” Her Attorney, Andrew
Brettler wrote in the court complaint on Tuesday. Kim’s legal
team are arguing that the site didn’t use any legit sources and purposely published
its posts to harm her.
“Kim Kardashian was assaulted and robbed by two
masked men, who placed a gun to her head, duct-taped her hands, legs and
mouth, and then left her lying helplessly on the bathroom floor of her
rented apartment while the thieves absconded with millions of dollars
in jewelry,” Brettler writes.
“As if that ordeal were not awful enough,
Defendants made it worse by publishing on the Website, only hours after
the assault, that Kardashian faked the robbery and then committed insurance
fraud by filing a false claim with her carrier.”
Kardashian is seeking general, special,
punitive and exemplary damages. MediaTakeOut has not responded to the
lawsuit.
