Aminu Masari reveals how Miyetti Allah rescued abducted Katsina schoolboys

The Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, on Thursday, December 17, stated that the release of the abducted students of Government Science School in Kankara local government area of the state was made possible by the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).

Masari made this disclosure to journalists, stating the students were at Tsafe, Zamfara State, and would be transported to Kankara on Friday.

The students were released by the armed bandits on Thursday after spending six days in captivity.

The role of Miyetti Allah in the release of the abducted students is expected to shore up the image of the association regarded by many as a terrorist organization over several clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the country.

Masari said: “Alhamdulillah. The boys have been rescued and are now at Tsafe, Zamfara State. But, we shall be moving them to Kankara tomorrow (Friday).”

The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagogo, who also confirmed the development, said the students would be handed over to Katsina State government soon.

He, however, said the students were looking healthy, adding that none f them complained of any ailment.

Nagogo said: “The students are healthy but looking very tired; we will hand them over to their state as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged security agencies to investigate an intelligence report linking a North-West governor to banditry; abductions; and also other violent crimes in the zone.

Mr Yekini Nabena, APC Acting Deputy National Publicity Secretary gave the charge in a statement on Thursday, December 17, in Abuja.

Nabena who did not name the governor said that the increased spate of banditry in the area was politically motivated.

He added that the development was not unconnected with the alleged sponsorship of banditry; and other violent crimes by the said governor.

“Our security agencies have intelligence reports linking one of the North-West governors of colluding with bandits; to sponsor violent and also criminal activities in the zone.

“However, relevant security agencies must as a matter of urgency investigate the report; and determine its veracity, human lives are not what we should play political chess games with.

“We must shun enemies of the country; including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who seek political gains from issues of insecurity,” he said.
