Erstwhile Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido has on
Sunday publicly pleaded with his sons, Aminu and Mustapha, to forgive him for
their recent detention.
Lamido, who made the plea while speaking with
international radio station, VOA
Hausa service,
claimed total responsibility for his sons’ ordeal in the hands of the law.
He said, ”In
the process to improve democracy, there would be some mistakes. I am not a
perfect human being; I have my own shortcomings. And in my own case, I’m
outspoken, which perhaps explained why people found me too offensive and
irritating”.
The former Governor revealed that
his pains weren’t his detention, but that of his sons who were innocent but had
to suffer simply because their father served as a governor.
Lamido and his sons were briefly
held in a Kano prison before a Federal High Court granted them bail.
