A Texas man, Josten Bundy, has married his girlfriend after a judge
decreed he either married her of face jail time.
Bundy, 20, was in court after beating up 19-year old girlfriend Elizabeth Jaynes’ ex boyfriend.
Bundy had challened Jaynes’ ex to a fight for saying
disrespectful things about her, and ‘hit him in the jaw twice’.
During his sentencing, Judge Randall Rodgers ordered
him to marry her as part of a probation agreement or go to jail.
“You know, as a part of my probation, you’re going to have to
marry her…within 30 days,” Judge Randall said.
Bundy’s probation also includes writing out bible verses and
counseling.
Bundy agreed to the judge’s
proposal, and the couple duly applied for a marriage license.
The ceremony was rushed, with Bundy expressing his
disappointment at his family members not being able to attend.
“My father didn’t get to go, and that really bothers me, I know
he would have liked to be there.”
“None of my sisters got to show up, it was such short notice, I
couldn’t get it together.”
