Radio Presenter Gleydson Carvalho Shot To Death While On Air

Two gunmen had burst into the studio during Carvalho’s regular midday show, overpowering the receptionist and sound engineer.

Gleydson Carvalho was then shot three times: once in the head and twice in the stomach.

Gleydson Carvalho was a known critic of the government and corruption, and usually talked politics on his show at the Radio Liberdade FM.

Carvalho died on the way to the hospital, while the shooters escaped on a white motorbike,

A friend of Gleydson Carvalho’s, Autran Santos, revealed that he constantly received death threats.

“He spoke to me constantly about the threats but said he wasn’t afraid,” Autran said.

“The most serious threats he received were to do with politics. He said he had enemies because of the accusations he made.”
