Manchester United midfielder,
Juan Mata scored a lucky lob for Spain who struggled to get behind a resilient
Macedonia side but managed to pick up a 1-0 victory in the end.
Spain looked to be in control of the game and in the 8th minute, Juan Mata attempted a cross
but got it horribly wrong. The ball ended up hitting the cross bar and going in
off the head of the Macedonian goalkeeper to give Spain the lead.
De Gea was
giving a berth in the starting XI for Spain as the Spaniards looked in control
of the game, the match was a boring one as Macedonia defended deep and looked
to break on the counter but always looked disorganized in the end. In the second
half, Spain were all over Macedonia but failed to create any good chances and
in the last ten minutes had to defend deep in order to hold on to their win and
they did hold on to the win.
Spain now sit atop group C in the UEFA Euro qualifiers
despite starting the weekend in second place. Spain are only two points ahead
of Slovakia but will be happy to end this transfer break in front.
