An unfortunate man in Oyo State
is now the victim of acid burn attack due to his wife’s loving ways. The woman
was arrested by the police last month for attempted murder.
According to the suspect, however, the act was
out of love and ignorance as she was only trying to make her husband love her
more. The couple have been having problems conceiving and the woman was afraid
her husband will leave her to try his luck elsewhere.
She sought the advice of a friend who gave her a
bottle containing some liquid substance and instructed her to sprinkle some
of it on her husband, assuring her that it was a love charm from an Alfa, but
unknown to her, it was an acid.
She says,
“On Wednesday morning, Shola was lying down when I
took the bottle and poured the content on his head. He cried in agony from
sleep and I also shouted and ran out. But he followed me and caught up with me
beside the house next to ours.
“He asked people to help him hold
me so that I would not run away. By then, a huge crowd had gathered and it was
then they started saying that it was acid that I poured him. Some of the liquid
got rubbed on my body when he held me, giving me some burns,” she narrated.
Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer,
DSP Adekunle Ajisebutu disclosed that the suspect is still under
investigation and would be charged to court as soon as investigation is
concluded.
